Write Your Memoirs!

F or those of you age fifty and older, the Learning Center at Senior Citizens, Inc. , at the corner of Washington Avenue and Bull Street in mid-town Savannah, will be offering a memoir-writing class Spring Quarter (April 2 to May 21) on Wednesdays from 1:30 PM to 3:30 PM. The course is taught by two veteran writing teachers who have taught for the National Writing Project for years. You can take only this class, but if you also join Senior Citizens, you get reduced prices on all classes and some courses free of charge. For more information go to http://www.seniorcitizens-inc.org/the-learning-center . Currently, the winter quarter classes, already in progress, are posted. The spring schedule will be posted soon.

Inclement Weather!

Due to the weather, our speaker, Bebe Willoughby has decided, with my encouragement, that it would be better to postpone her speaking to February 11 th . I didn’t want her to prepare and come and have only a few there. So she will present at our next meeting on February 11 th . The meeting is still officially “on” since no one person has the decision-making power to cancel a meeting. Personally, I think it is a good idea to follow the weather service’s advisory not to drive tomorrow after 5:00 PM unless absolutely necessary. Stay safe and warm! ~Sally Klein

Creative Writing Courses

Creative Writing Courses: A new round of creative writing classes will begin in a couple of weeks at the Coastal Georgia Center.  I was hoping to reach out to you to let the members of the Savannah Writers Group know about the classes and encourage them to enroll if they are looking to further their immersion in the craft of writing. Here is the information,  http://academics.georgiasouthern.edu/ce/programs/personaldevelopment/writingclasses/ As the instructor, I work to create an encouraging, safe and fun environment for all levels.  And a few of the previous students have gone on to publish.   Please don't hesitate to contact me should you have any questions.   -- With warmest regards, Amy Paige Condon Don't forget to check out the previous entry to learn more about our upcoming speaker!
