Inclement Weather!

Due to the weather, our speaker, Bebe Willoughby has decided, with my encouragement, that it would be better to postpone her speaking to February 11 th . I didn’t want her to prepare and come and have only a few there. So she will present at our next meeting on February 11 th . The meeting is still officially “on” since no one person has the decision-making power to cancel a meeting. Personally, I think it is a good idea to follow the weather service’s advisory not to drive tomorrow after 5:00 PM unless absolutely necessary. Stay safe and warm! ~Sally Klein

Creative Writing Courses

Creative Writing Courses: A new round of creative writing classes will begin in a couple of weeks at the Coastal Georgia Center.  I was hoping to reach out to you to let the members of the Savannah Writers Group know about the classes and encourage them to enroll if they are looking to further their immersion in the craft of writing. Here is the information,  http://academics.georgiasouthern.edu/ce/programs/personaldevelopment/writingclasses/ As the instructor, I work to create an encouraging, safe and fun environment for all levels.  And a few of the previous students have gone on to publish.   Please don't hesitate to contact me should you have any questions.   -- With warmest regards, Amy Paige Condon Don't forget to check out the previous entry to learn more about our upcoming speaker!

January Meetings

Happy January! Did you know that the month of January was named for the two-faced Roman god, Janus, god of gates, doors, passages and beginnings? It was indeed. And I'm not just calling him two-faced because he owes me money. The deity was literally depicted having two faces, one looking to the future and the other looking to the past. The future of The Savannah Writers Group is looking bright! We have a freshly updated Calendar page! Upcoming January meetings will happen on Tuesday, January 14th & Tuesday, January 28th. At these meetings you can expect to discuss future programs and to read some work of your own or critique what other members decide to share. Also, on  Tuesday, January 14th , you might just see Ms Brenda Roberts , who is gearing up for the Local Author's Corner at the Black Heritage Festival to be held on Saturday, February 8th. If you are interested in "going in" on the cost of an author's table at the event, you're goin
