In Tributaries: An Anthology of the Savannah
Writers Group
, published in 2017, SWG member, Garr Parks wrote THE DECOY MAKER.

"I had met such characters as Glover, the inmate locked up in Isolation cell F-9, during my twenty-year career as a Correction Officer at Somers State Prison in Somers, CT. The isolation cells were units in the segregation block, which housed the most troublesome or violent inmates. Segregation also housed Death Row. Inmates locked alone for long periods of time often demonstrated extraordinary behaviors that sometimes enticed them to
create companions who didn’t exist. Such companions might be monsters or enemies or friends - depending!
SANCTIFIED by Sally Rountree Klein was a favorite…story [also published in Tributaries], which reflected a narrator who, along her life’s journey, learned to love and respect a culture foreign to her, because of racial segregation and a nation’s divisive history, yet she found compatibility and friendship.

My favorite line in the story was, ‘Wondering what it was like to be white as I wondered what it was like to be black’."
