Ch-ch-ch-changes! Let's Meet @ Uncle Maddio's on TUES 12 April!

The Savannah Writer's Group is in transition! We previously met every 2nd and 4th Tuesday at The Atlanta Bread Company. However, the last meeting was held at the new location of Jason's Deli. We thought it would be a permanent change, but we were wrong! We're no longer at Atlanta Bread! But we're not staying at Jason's either! The next meeting of the Savannah Writer's Group will be held on Tuesday, 12 April at 7:30 at Uncle Maddio's Pizza, which is located at Chatham Plaza, across from the Oglethorpe Mall. Chatham Plaza is the one which features World Market and Chili's. On the agenda for this meeting are the following: Susan Thompson’s presentation on Pat Conroy followed by YOUR reading of a favorite passage of his or personal story about him, Voting on an anthology title (you must be present to vote), and Voting on whether to make Uncle Maddio’s our new location.

A Note from Sally: Special upcoming events will occur at the next two meetings, March 22 and April 12. March 22: I think that the location vote ignited our imaginations and creativity, which is great thing! Some folks have contacted me about discussing other changes. At the next meeting, let’s open the floor to discuss any changes we might want to make with the way we do business: do we want to have officers? A leader? A speaker’s committee? Do we want to continue our twin focus on sharing with the occasional speaker, or focus just on sharing? These are all great questions to ask. I am excited that we are examining our processes. Please contact me if you would like to volunteer to lead or co-lead the discussion. April 12: Our own Susan Thompson suggested a won

Tuesday 8 March Meeting - Guest Speaker Jim Waller

On the March 8 meeting of the Savannah Writers Group, we will hear from one of our own and hold a vote for the future meeting location. A HISTORY OF THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE Jim Waller is a Tybee Author of novels, short stories, and poems. He readily admits he is no expert on the subject of the English language, but his presentation will be based upon knowledge garnered from more decades than he wishes to disclose at this time as a student of language. He requests, therefore, that we approach the subject as a discussion rather than a presentation and asks members to bring whatever they can add to the conversation. Members will also be called upon to cast their vote on possible future meeting locations. From the locations suggested, the locations that meet our requirements have been narrowed to these three, which you may want to visit before the vote.
