Tuesday, 27 January - SWG Meeting - Anthology, Anthology, Anthology

The Savannah Writers Group will meet on Tuesday, 27 January at The Atlanta Bread Company at 7 PM . As always, these meetings are free and open to the public. Unfortunately, we have received a cancellation from our previously scheduled guest speaker, Elaine Duree. Instead, the focus of this meeting will be our upcoming anthology! Speaking of anthologies, one topic that comes to mind is writing short fiction. The average anthology does not allow for pieces with a high word count. I came across a lovely blog entry dealing with that very topic. You've heard of short and sweet? Well, in my experience, writing concise work is very difficult! There's nothing sweet about it! Happy New Year lads and lassies! I'm excited to announce the very first meeting of the SWG of 2015. Come one, come all! Everyone is welcome. The Savannah Writers Group will meet Tuesday, 13 January @ 7 PM at the Atlanta Bread Company located at the 12 Oaks Shopping Center. I  apologize for getting my dates confused! It happens! Also, please note that on 13 January we will welcome Guest Speaker David Lyons , author of A Long Way from Whitehall . Author David L. Lyons grew up during the 1950s and 60s in the small community of Whitehall in northern Alabama. As a child, he dealt with abject poverty and the stigma of being born to an unwed mother, which greatly affected his childhood. Lyons realized he was different from other children on the first day of school, when teachers asked students to tell the class who their fathers were and what they did. He never knew his father. Instead, he was raised by a single mother-a rarity in 1947, when he was born-with the help
